Xiaomi has added a new action camera to its line-up, the YI 4K. As the product name suggests, the camera records video in 4K resolution, at 30 frames per second. The manufacturer specifies that it uses Sony's Exmor IMX377 image sensor to achieve the high resolution. An Ambarella A9 is used as image processor, already known from the GoPro Hero4 Black Edition. Furthermore, the camera comes with a 2,19" touch screen, offering a resolution of 640 x 360 pixels resulting in a pixel density of 330 ppi.
Xiaomi has stated a maximum aperture of f/2,8, meaning one can also film in low light surroundings. The view angle is stated to be 155 degrees and an electronic image stabilizer ensures the image will be displayed smoothly, even during action-packed scenes.
Xiaomi claims a battery life of 110 mintues for the 1400 mAh capacity battery. The Yi 4K measures 65 x 42 x 21 millimeters. As a matter of course, video is stored on a microSD card, and can be transferred using the USB interface, or the WiFi module.
The Xiaomi YI 4K is currently only available in the USA, where it is being sold for around 250 US dollars.
