SanDisk LogoSanDisk has introduced two new external SSD drives at Computex 2015. The top model is the Extreme 900 and comes equipped with a USB 3.1 Type-C port. Buyers of a new 12" MacBook would thus be able to connect the drive, without having to buy an adapter. Overall, the SSD has a capacity of 1,92 TB and can achieve transfer rates of 850MB/s read and write through the interface. However, there are also smaller versions to choose from. Buyers  can also opt for a 480 GB model and a 960 GB version.

In addition to the flagship, SanDisk also presented a second external SSD series, the Extreme 500. The Extreme 500 is far smaller, and comes in capacities of 120 GB, 240 and 480 GB. A conventional USB 3.0 port is used as an interface. This allows up to 415 MB/s read and up to 340 MB/s write rates. Information about the controller or NAND was not disclosed by the manufacturer.
