Game developer Feral Games has announced on Twitter its Tomb Raider reboot from 2013 is now also available for Linux and SteamOS. Finally another AAA title can be enjoyed on the Linux platform. The game will run on all current graphics cards from NVIDIA (GeForce 640 and above) and AMD (Radeon HD 5770 and above).
The newest Linux port was tested with NVIDIA driver version 364.12, and AMD's Mesa 11.2 driver. Tomb Raider tells the story of how Lara Croft became who she is, an iconic figure ever since the first Tomb Raider game was released back in the year 1996.
The story deals about her search for the legendary Japanese island Yamatai along with her friends, and all the adventures they experience on their way there. The sequel, Rise of the Tomb Raider, appeared out last year in November for the Xbox One and end of January for the PC. The title with support for DirectX 12 will appear for the PlayStation 4 around the end of this year.
In addition to Linux, the title now also supports Mac OS X. As such, Tomb Raider 2013 is one of the most cross-platform AAA titles, with versions for Windows, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and now also Linux and Mac OS X.
