Page 1: Reviewed: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z97 Mark S (Intel Z97) Motherboard

IMG 4 logoIt’s been a while since we looked at the ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77. Covered almost completely in plastic, the board was from a visual point of view exciting to look at. Truly stressed, though, was the stability. Today we’re checking the latest board under the SABERTOOTH name, the snow-white ASUS SABERTOOTH Z97 Mark S.

The very first SABERTOOTH motherboard from ASUS came equipped with the Intel P55 chipset based around the LGA1156 Socket. A year later, the SABERTOOTH P67 come to fruition with the Z77 following that for the LGA 1155 socket. Following that we saw the Z87 based version come to the market with the latest Z97 chipset getting a version in 2014. Today sees the new snow-white Mark S version based on the same Z97 chipset.

The Mark S version of the board sees ASUS drop the classic black look and instead go for a change with a brilliant white setup. Outside of this we see little change, various expansions cards can be divided into the two mechanical PCIe 3.0 x16 slots, three PCIe 2.0 x1 slots and single PCIe 2.0 x16 slot. SATA connectivity is provided via six SATA III 6GB/s ports and a single SATA Express interface. On the USB front we see a total of eight USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports.

Under the Thermal Armor is a snow-white ATX PCB. ASUS has left the port colors untouched with the same army like theme seen.
